Update: Apna Canteen has closed and merged into Apna Chaat house. You can find some of its menu items added onto the Apna Chaat houses menu such as momos, aam panna, gola etc but most have been discontinued, unfortunately.
This is what Surrey’s been waiting for: a real Indian cafe with delicious desi snacks without hurting the wallet. It’s all fusion finger food, a combination of north and south Indian bakery snacks with an American influence.
This is what Surrey’s been waiting for: a real Indian cafe with delicious desi snacks without hurting the wallet. It’s all fusion finger food, a combination of north and south Indian bakery snacks with an American influence. Mouth watering kathi rolls, sandwiches, wraps and vegetarian desserts If anyone could’ve done this right it would have to be the owners of the very successful Apna Chaat House. They know what’s missing in the market and they’re filling those gaps.
My favorites were the chicken tikka roll, paneer angaar sandwich (masala paneer with some vegetables)and the cheese corn roll.
While the first two snacks I’ve tried before, the cheese corn roll was something I’d never heard of. Think alfredo sauce mixed with mozzarella cheese mixed with corn coming together in a delicious gooey symphony that’s creamy and extremely satisfying.
Just and FYI they make maggie to order with their own spin to it. For those of you who aren’t familiar with maggie noodles, they’re akin to what Kraft Mac ‘n’ cheese is to N.America.
All dishes range around $4.50 to $6.50 and come with a side of salad and either chutney or a spicy dip. Rumour has it they’ll be introducing momos soon, I can’t wait to try those.
This place is going to be a hit with students and everyone else who’s in need of a quick desi meal. Rather than going to Mc Donalds, Wendys etc come here for a quick bite. As Russel Peters says ” Just Take it and Go” 😉
